Like a Lemonade Stand

Image
As a child, I've always loved the idea of having a lemonade stand... or a yard sale... something like that. Something that involves being outside in front of my house, interacting with my neighbors, and having something for them to enjoy. We've had a couple of yard sales growing up, but we've never done a lemonade stand. But yesterday, as I set up the outdoor table, brought out the donation box and granola bar samples, I felt a little bit as if I was setting up a lemonade stand.      I am selling granola bars to people in the area to raise money for the YWAM internship in Spain. So, I decided to sit outside to tell people about what I am doing and how to order granola bars to purchase. I also had some little squares of the granola bars for people to try.       One of my favorite things about this hour was simply talking with my neighbors. Some people who I had never met before came by and were interested in my story. It is neat to me how this idea turned into an oppor

I'd consider this a special post with a special announcement:      I am excited to announce that I plan to go to Spain this fall to teach English and Spanish classes for a YWAM team reaching out to North African immigrants!  This weekend was a crazy, but awesome one that was filled with a happy emotion of feeling so loved and supported by family and friends, and feeling so glad and relieved to be done with school. I graduated with my Master's degree in Applied Linguistics/ TESOL yesterday! It was an early ceremony at 8:30 am, but it was sweet to be there with my TESOL classmates. It was also really cool to be able to celebrate with my friends and family after.      I've had the overwhelming feeling of joy from all the support from such sweet people in my life. I was so amazed and thankful at how many people came to support me at the graduation party after. I am also just so glad to be done with school. These past two years have been so good, but also so hard. I've learned so much and written many papers. I've done a teaching demonstration, taught countless lessons, and led a few discussion groups.
